Central America is traversing one of its most intense periods in terms of trade negotiations. With key new agreements negotiations in place such as the Central American Free Trade Agreement with the United States, FTAA and the Doha Round new and important questions arise about trade policies and their impact on development and the economic model. In the near future the region will meet the challenges of managing all the diverse agreements and making all necessary transformations to benefit from these agreements.
In an effort to respond to the needs of contributing to a dialogue, of well informed policies, about trade and development topics among the diverse sectors in Central American countries, as well as disseminating new relevant research findings and obtaining useful lessons for the region currently facing the challenges of economy internationalization, the OAS in association with Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and NetAmericas organized the conference entitled “La Integración a la Economía Mundial y Regional: Los Retos para Centroamérica.”
This open conference brought together distinguished experts of different disciplines to discuss timing issues of relevance for Central America.
