Paolo Giordano
Bio
Paolo Giordano holds a BA in International economics
from the Bocconi University of Milan, a MA in Applied Economics and a PhD in
Economics from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po). He
currently serves as economist at the Integration and Regional Programs
Department of the Inter-American Development Bank. In this position, where he
conducts policy-oriented research programs, he is involved in country and
regional policy programming and participates in operation activities related to
trade and regional integration. During the period 1998-2001, Mr. Giordano was
the Coordinator of the Working Group on EU-Mercosur Negotiations: a high level
policy-oriented research project committed to the involvement of civil society
in international negotiations through the formulation of policy recommendations
to official negotiators.
From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Giordano has been an Appointed Professor at the Mercosur
Chair of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), lecturing in
International Economics, Trade Policy and Latin American Development Issues. In
his academic career Mr. Giordano lectured in several European universities,
organized and participated in international meetings, edited publications,
published in international refereed journals, supervised graduate students
and participated in capacity-building projects in developing countries.
Mr. Giordano is affiliated to several international research networks and served
as a consultant for international organizations, such as the United Nations, the
European Commission and the Inter-American Development Bank. Mr. Giordano speaks
five languages and extensively resided and traveled abroad in developed (Europe
and North America)and in developing countries (Africa and Latin America) for
academic, professional and leisure purposes.
